BBSmates Newsletter Topics for Wednesday, October 23, 2002 - Added Features - Coming Soon - One Last Note =================================================================== Added Features =================================================================== Legend of the Red Dragon!!!! ---------------------------- Legend of the Red Dragon was always my personal favorite door game. I've set up a telnet site dedicated solely to hosting a LORD game. Please TELNET to bbsmates.com and join the game! It's already bringing back memories for me. :) I've got the following IGM's set up now: Barak's House The Lottery Violet's Cottage Scores can be viewed online from here: http://www.bbsmates.com/lord.asp If you would like to see any more IGM's, let me know of some cool ones (make sure they're free of cheat codes first!) If you'd like me to host any other door games, email me and let me know. I know GWAR has already been suggested. telnet://bbsmates.com Site Search ----------- Using this new box, you can search the entire website for whatever it is you're looking for. This will search four areas of the site, including: BBS Descriptions, User Link Notes (the note you type in when you join a BBS), Discussion Forums and OneLiners. =================================================================== Coming Soon =================================================================== Amongst a few other things, pressing issues that will be dealt with this week will be: The ability to have your BBS in multiple area codes. I will just allow you to use commas in between the area codes your BBS was in. The searches will be fixed to allow your BBS to show up in the results for any of the area codes you have provided. If anyone sees a problem with doing it this way, please email me and perhaps suggest something else. The second issue is the Email Notifications. Some people on very popular BBS's have complained that they receive sometimes a dozen notifications per day. When I designed the system, I wasn't really counting on the website being THIS popular. So first off, i'd like to appologize to those people who think they're getting spammed. :) I'm going to create a program that will send out one email per day per user. That email will just include a summary of things that happened that day on the BBS's that you're a member of. =================================================================== One Last Note =================================================================== NEW POLL - Did you ever meet someone In Real Life from a BBS? -- Aron Hoekstra BBSmates - dialing up the past http://www.bbsmates.com nullvalue@bbsmates.com
